Tim’s 2024 Speaking Schedule

One of my great privileges in life is getting to partner with some amazing people who are building thriving churches here in Perth, across Australia, and around the world.

My primary value add is preaching, teaching, ministry coaching, and mentoring, but I also help churches and organisations strive for health through leadership development and formal theological education.

I have also recently transitioned into professional supervision to support leaders and people in the caring professions in the work they do.

Toward the end of last year, I started sensing that it was time for a sabbatical break from my preaching work.

I started preaching when I was 19 years old and have been speaking with increasing regularity ever since.

For the past three years, I have preached 42 weekends of the year, and for the four years preceding that, around 35 weekends a year. It has been immensely enjoyable and fruitful, but that’s a lot of talking.

When I recently turned 49, I sensed that God might be leading me into a sort of “Jubilee” year.

In Leviticus 25, we find the first reference to the concept of “Jubilee” as part of the law given by Yahweh to the Israelites. These verses describe God’s desire that Israel institute a Sabbath year every seven years.

The Jubilee year, which occurs after every seventh Sabbath year (i.e., every 50th year), is a form of extended personal, environmental, spiritual, and communal reset where the land and people get to rest.

2024 is my 50th year on earth and my 30th year in ministry, and it will be a Jubilee Sabbath year of rest, recalibration, and renewal for my soul.

I also plan to use the time to do more reading, writing, studying, and deep thinking, as well as develop a new set of rhythms and routines for the week.

I have a few significant writing projects underway, so having the time and headspace to focus on these will be valuable.

God willing, I will be back preaching and teaching again in 2025.
